Hearing protection for babies & kids

Why do babies and children need hearing protection?

Hearing protection is something you can't start early enough with. After all, babies and children develop rapidly, making their hearing especially sensitive. That means that hearing protection for babies and children is very important for preventing hearing damage and any potential restriction of development. Discover the possibilities of Alpine baby and children's hearing protection!

There are several reasons to give babies and children hearing protection:

  • It helps to protect them from loud noises;
  • It prevents overstimulation in noisy environments;
  • It helps them to take a nap while travelling or in crowds.

When babies are taken to places with loud noises or music at high volume, there is a high risk of hearing damage because of their sensitive hearing. We developed the Muffy Baby especially for babies and toddlers. With a noise attenuation of 24 dB, you can rest assured that your baby or toddler will have excellent hearing protection. The ideal solution for little ones up to 48 months!

FAQ

For adults, noise levels as low as 80 dB can be harmful, but for babies and children that threshold is lower. This is because the ear canal is narrower at a young age, so the sound pressure is greater for them. To protect little ones' hearing, a maximum exposure of 70 dB is recommended – similar to the average noise level of a normal conversation. As a parent or guardian, it is important to be aware of the decibel level that your child may be exposed to in different environments and situations. You can then give your baby hearing protection when needed.

Hearing protection for babies and children may be needed in the following environments, among others:

  • At birthday events and school activities;
  • On an airplane;
  • While travelling on public transport;
  • At (sports) events, concerts and festivals.

At Alpine, we use only the best and most durable materials. All of our hearing protection for babies and children is also CE certified. This means that the products meet all of the European safety, health and environmental requirements.
